What if...you wrote the kind of story where the reader gets to mess it all up?
You write pages. Each page has choices. Choices go to other pages. Sometimes a page only shows up if the reader picked up the key earlier. That's it, that's the whole thing.
(reading is free, you don't need an account or anything)
how it works, basically
1.
write some pages
Just type. Bold, pictures, a youtube video if you want. Nothing fancy needed.
2.
connect them with choices
Add a choice like "open the weird door" and pick which page it goes to. Done.
3.
hide stuff behind keys
Tick a flag like has_key = true, then make a choice only show up if they have it. Sneaky.
